DMG MORI’s state-of-the-art production plant in Ulyanovsk and the DMG MORI Technology and Solution Center in Moscow both underscore the machine tool manufacturer’s status as a local producer and its role as a leader of innovation on the Russian market. Since the opening of Ulyanovsk MT in 2015, the development of the Russian production site has been increasingly successful every year reaching its climax so far in 2018. Full cycle assembly, spindle assembly for locally produced machines, and the production of hydraulic systems have been major milestones over the past two years. Now, DMG MORI also offers new technology cycles for their ECOLINE machines: MPC 2.0, Alternating Speed, and 3D quickSET.

DMG MORI also offers new technology cycles for their ECOLINE machines: MPC 2.0, Alternating Speed, and 3D quickSET.

MPC 2.0 – Machine Protection Control – monitors vibration and torque in the process and ensures a rapid shutdown in case of a crash. This reduces damages as well as the risk of tool breakage and increases the machine availability. The technology cycle Alternating Speed works with the main spindle and counter spindle or for milling machines with FD tables with DirectDrive. By adapting the speed, it avoids vibration. Thus, it increases process safety for example when using long thin drills. Alternating Speed is easy to operate through three parameters and without additional sensors. No manual intervention by the operator is needed and it allows an identical repeatability for all components. The third new DMG MORI Technology Cycle is called 3D quickSET, a toolkit for checking and correcting the kinematic accuracy of 4- and 5-axis machine configurations available for all head variations and table axes. It offers periodic recalibration of the machine with comprehensive documentation and highest kinematic accuracy in self-regulation.

DMG MORI machines retrofit service at Ulyanovsk MT

Full cycle assembly, spindle assembly for locally produced machines, and the production of hydraulic systems have been major milestones over the past two years.

With all necessary equipment and highly qualified specialists, Ulyanovsk MT announces to the customers in Russia a retrofitting option to boost the performance of DMG MORI machines regardless the year of their manufacturing.

With support of expert knowledge and high-quality products the scope of the services comprises the replacement of the following machine components: spindles, ballscrews, drives, rulers, CNC systems, which results in increase of productivity, speed and machining accuracy, power efficiency, and a new level of production at a minimal cost.

Automation: More value creation through integral automation

Processes can be quickly and easily created with the Robo2Go 2nd Generation even without any knowledge of robot programming.

Automated machines are crucial components of a digital factory and therefore an integral part of intelligent and networked production. DMG MORI sees automation in this way as a strategic future-oriented field. Like all plants in the group, the production plant in Ulyanovsk also assumes an important role in the development and implementation of automation solutions. Its portfolio ranges from technical consultations and budgeting to possible modifications to machines in use and on to include installation and commissioning. The experts in Ulyanovsk also assume other optimizations, the tooling and teaching of robots, so customers receive a complete automation solution from a single source. DMG MORI will demonstrate its automation expertise at Metalloobrabotka using the examples of the turn-mill center CTX beta 800 TC with the flexible Robo2Go and the 5-axis milling machine DMU 50 2nd Generation with PH150 pallet handling.

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING: Four complete process chains for powder bed and powder nozzle technology

DMG MORI offers the LASERTEC 30 SLM 2nd Generation for additive manufacturing in the powder bed.

DMG MORI has performed successfully on the market for over five years now with the combination of laser deposition welding and metal-cutting machining on the machines of the LASERTEC 3D hybrid series. In addition to establishing and expanding the digital process chain DMG MORI has also developed to become a full-liner in additive manufacturing. Additive manufacturing will grow enormously during the next years. With their portfolio, DMG MORI is well-prepared for this development. While the LASERTEC 65 3D is geared solely towards laser deposition welding as a complement to existing machining centers on the shop floor, the LASERTEC SLM series – DMG MORI will be showing the LASERTEC 30 SLM 2nd Generation at Metalloobrabotka – expands the portfolio to include the powder bed method using Selective Laser Melting. The two latter series can also be combined with separate machining centers and turning machines from the DMG MORI portfolio, thus allowing the realization of further process chains.

Especially for applications in selective laser, melting DMG MORI offers the new OPTOMET software. It has self-adjusting and learning algorithms that calculate the required parameters of the SLM process in advance within minutes. This means layer thicknesses, for example, can be calculated freely, which in turn enables a faster and therefore more productive build. OPTOMET also has a material database that allows users to use material from all manufacturers without having to test them in advance. The open system also allows independent expansion of the database using the customer’s own experiments. OPTOMET is able to adjust parameters in such a way that material properties, such as hardness, porosity and elasticity, can be changed or optimized.
