02/11/2020|Open House Pfronten 2020 - Automation

Automated value creation in the entire portfolio

With its extensive range of automation solutions, DMG MORI enables autonomous and cost-efficient production for its customers for virtually every application.

  • Holistic automation portfolio encompassing the entire product portfolio
  • PH‑AGV 50: Driverless transport system for flexible processes and unrestricted machine accessibility
  • Robo2Go: Innovative robot automation for turning centers now also with MAPPS control
  • LPP: Linear Pallet Pool for up to 99 palettes
  • Extensive automation spectrum of compact workpiece and pallet handling systems and gantry loaders including large rotary storage solutions
DMG MORI offers an extensive automation portfolio encompassing the entire product spectrum.

As a driver of innovation in the field of automation, DMG MORI demonstrates its competence in this area with integral solutions direct from the factory and from a single source. After the successful start of DMG MORI HEITEC at the end of 2017 and around 50 realized projects the machine tool manufacturer is setting its sights high. Rapid growth in the three-digit range is expected. In order to meet the hugely increasing demand DMG MORI will in future be offering all machine tools in its portfolio with automation solutions.

The extensive DMG MORI automation portfolio offers innovative and versatile solutions for an autonomous and cost-efficient production for both milling and turning applications. The latest highlight is the new PH Cell for 5-axis machining centers and vertical machines. The machine tool manufacturer will be presenting this automation in combination with a DMU 65 monoBLOCK as a world premiere at the Open House. Modular in design the pallet handling system has space for 40 differently sized pallets with dimensions up to maximum 500 x 500 mm. This makes the system an attractive solution in particular for medium-sized components weighing up to 300 kg.

PH‑AGV 50: Driverless transport system for flexible processes and unrestricted machine accessibility

The PH‑AGV 50 moves independently on the shop floor and its travel paths can be programmed freely.

At the Open House DMG MORI will also be demonstrating the PH‑AGV 50 (Automated Guided Vehicle), which was recently presented at the EMO. The result of a development partnership with Jungheinrich, the driverless transport system enables even more flexible processes and unrestricted access to the machine. The PH‑AGV 50 moves independently on the shop floor and its travel paths can be programmed freely. Both the pallet rack and the set-up station are modular in design. Additional machines can be integrated simply at a later date. This allows a customized and future-proof concept. The control and management of the system is taken on by the DMG MORI LPS 4 master computer, which optimizes all processes in production.

Robo2Go: Innovative robot automation for turning centers now also with MAPPS control

Robo2Go Vision will be seen in Pfronten together with a CTX beta 1250 TC.

The Robo2Go Vision can be on show at the Open House on a CTX beta 1250 TC. This innovative solution offers a flexible automation layout with free access to the machine and an intelligent safety concept for human-machine collaboration. The Robo2Go Vision, a further development of the flexible robot automation, enables direct loading of Euro pallets and thanks to the new 3D-camera achieves robust recognition without the need of any specific workpiece deposits. With the aid of the dialog-guided control via CELOS and the 3D-camera the teach-in of the Robo2Go Vision takes less than ten minutes. DMG MORI will also be presenting the Robo2Go 2nd Generation on an NZX 2000 with MAPPS control for the first time.

LPP: Linear Pallet Pool for up to 99 palettes

NHX 4000 and NHX 5000 with LPP – linear palette pool for up to 99 pallets.

DMG MORI designed the LPP for the NHX 4000 and NHX 5000 machining centers. Up to eight machines with a total of five set-up stations can be connected with this solution. Up to 99 pallets are arranged on two levels in order to achieve maximum productivity. 199 pallets are also possible on request. The LPP 40 with pallet dimensions of 400 x 400 mm is the entry model in the system. The largest automation solution in this series is the LPP 250 with pallet dimensions of 2,500 x 2,500 mm and a maximum workpiece weight of 10,000 kg. It can accommodate workpieces up to ø 3,400 x 2,000 mm. The LPP is controlled by the DMG MORI master computer MCC-LPS, whose efficient and intuitive software organizes the material stock and manages the tools and fixtures.

Extensive automation spectrum of compact workpiece and pallet handling systems and gantry loaders including large rotary storage solutions

In addition to the examples already mentioned, the automation portfolio for the Open House also encompasses the complete range of intelligent solutions. These include the compact workpiece and pallet handling systems as well as gantry loaders for smaller workpieces including the WH Cell on a DMU 50 3rd Generation and a CMX 50 U, the PH 150 with ten pallets on a DMU 60 eVo and a CMX 600 V plus the GX 6 on a CLX 350. Rotary pallet storage systems for heavy components will be presented on machining centers from the monoBLOCK series. A rotary magazine RPS 9 with direct loading in the work area will be on show for the first time with the DMU 65 H monoBLOCK, one of this year’s world premieres. In the field of the automated production of large components, DMG MORI will be presenting the DMU 200 Gantry with the WH 210 workpiece handling system. With this extensive range DMG MORI underscores its claim of being in a position to offer a suitable automation solution for every application.
